Jubilee hospital water feature/bench/planter

In mid-November, Szolyd Development custom precast concrete design and manufacturing received a phone call from the Design/Construction team of Acciona/Lark Group.  For the past four years they have been building the new Patient Care Centre at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC.  As the completion date neared, they quickly realized that the water-feature/benches that were designed for the Mental Health Ward were cost and time prohibitive. They needed a solution.  We worked in conjunction with the architects to develop a drawing that met all of the site needs and restrictions.  The final product needed to be tamper-proof and built in easily assembled units. It also was to have a specific surface finish and durability, and–of course–be beautiful. Szolyd designed, built, poured, and installed the four large water-feature/benches, ultimately allowing the project to meet it’s deadline.
